|You guessed it...the 2 year old pictured here often experiments with eating the play dough:) Now I don't have to worry about what ingredients were used!|
This recipe came from my daughter's preschool class. Maybe you've seen it before? I wish I knew the original source. Anyway, it calls for a short ingredient list and amount of time.
2 Cups Flour 4 teaspoons Cream of Tartar
2 Cups Water 1 1/2 Tablespoons Wesson Oil
1 Cup Salt Food Coloring and Essential Oil (optional)
In a saucepan, mix the dry ingredients. Add oil and water. Cook 3 minutes over medium heat until the mixture pulls away from sides. Knead almost immediately (it'll be hot, so you may need to wait a few minutes) and add food coloring and essential oil for scent. Stores for months in an air-tight container!
The above photo is the consistency you're looking for when it's completely cooked.
Little hands can help with the whole process...just remember food coloring can stain, so take precautions for hands, clothes, and counter tops! We knead our dough with the food coloring on plates to be safe.
Enjoy! How are you keeping busy on these snowy days?
